Meet Our Featured Speaker
Pastor Damian Chandler was born in Toronto Canada and raised on the island of Barbados. For as long as he can remember church has always been a part of his life. From children’s choirs to kid’s camps, his path always led him back to the church. But it was a small church, housed in the basement of his home, that made the greatest impact on his life.
With only 9 members, there was no way to escape leadership… or for that matter church attendance. He tells the story of one day trying to skip church, pretending to be sick. When all of a sudden, the door of his room swung open and a member dragged him downstairs to church… in his pajamas. He knew those 9 members loved him deeply and he loved them. And somewhere in that community his love for Jesus grew. At night he could hear the prayers of these humble people rising through the vents into his room. That small church made a large deposit in the spiritual hunger of Pastor Chandler, and it stands as both a turning point in his life, and a foundation for his call to ministry.
His pastoral journey, which has taken him across the length and breadth of America, started in Seattle Washington. While there he founded Impact Youth, an urban youth ministry that used the arts to help teens find Jesus in their personal stories. They travelled across the country to schools and churches inspiring teens everywhere that there was no limit to what God wanted to do in them and through them.
One of Damian’s greatest loves is leading people in worship. He has composed numerous songs now used in praise and worship settings across the country. Pastor Chandler is also a story teller at heart. This gift most recently led him to write a book entitled The Crooked Christmas Tree. The book, published by Faithwords, has been featured by national retailers like Barnes and Noble, Walmart and Target across the nation, and leading book retailers around the world.
Pastor Chandler is passionate about ministry, but he is even more passionate about family. After years of dedicated pursuit, God gave him the desire of his heart and a partner in life, his wife Tanzy Chandler. They later expanded their tribe with the addition of their daughter Zoe, sons Salem and Levi.
Pastor Chandler now proudly serves as the Senior Pastor of the Capitol City Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Sacramento California.
