Communicating with WhatsApp

Outside the United States, WhatsApp is widely used to communicate for free with wireless internet connection. As the US phone system differs from the rest of the world, international guests aren’t able to easily purchase a sim card on arrival in the US, as in other countries.  The good news is you can manage with free wifi in airports and hotels, and in some areas at Camporee. International guests are thus encouraged to install WhatsApp on their smart phones and email their mobile/cell phone number, including the country code, to their host club leader and to camporeehosting@gmail.com when first introduced.  Get your host's phone number, and experiment with texting and calling so you're sure both parties are comfortable using this communication tool before you travel to the USA. Text and call your host with updates on your arrival time, if there are any delays in your travel. Once on site, even though wifi signal is not available everywhere, WhatsApp may prove very helpful.

Daily Newspaper

Each day during Camporee a daily newspaper is printed and handed out at the Youth Director's meetings early each morning. Make sure to ask your Youth Director or Conference Pathfinder Director to bring you copies back to your conference each day. More copies are available at the Information booths located throughout the Camporee. Only a certain number of newspapers are printed each day.

In addition to physical copies of the newspaper, PDF copies are posted on the website once the Camporee is over, so everyone can download and enjoy reading them later.

If you have a great story to tell or information about an event, contact the Camporee Newspaper editor.

How to Listen to Nighttime Program in the Event of Inclement Weather
