Enjoy the Oshkosh Community

An array of activities await Pathfinders and staff of all ages in the nearby Oshkosh community. Swim at the beach, or inside at the YMCA; visit the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Museum, a local dairy farm, or embark on a new adventure: sailing! Activities are held daily, unless otherwise noted.

Hours of all Off-site Activities unless specified:

Tuesday 12:00 noon - 5:00pm
Wednesday-Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
Sabbath - no Off-site Activities


Off-Site Medical Release Information

It is required that for those participating in any of the off-site activities that the counselor/chaperone/adult supervisor will have the appropriate medical release information for each Pathfinder that they are responsible for.


Basketball Tournament

You'll love playing basketball at this state of the art RecPlex facility at the University of Wisconsin, in Oshkosh. This facility has three basketball courts.

PLEASE NOTE:

The boys teams are closed for registration because we have reached 20 teams.

We are needing more girls teams, so register soon before it's too late.

Beach/Swimming

Enjoy the beach on beautiful Lake Winnebago which is one of the largest lakes in Wisconsin. It is not the ocean, but pretty close! Lifeguards will be available on-site. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen and drinking water, your modest one piece bathing suit, and maybe a lunch, if needed.

Canoeing/Kayaking/Paddle Boats

Enjoy a quiet canoe ride on the quiet waters of a large pond near Menominee Park. This city park also provides kayaks, paddle boats, and water wheels. It is expected this will be a very popular activity so schedule your time at the park accordingly. While in the area you can also enjoy a visit to the Menominee Park Zoo. One to three persons may ride in the canoes; the kayaks are for a single rider. You should plan to bring swimwear, water or tennis shoes, cover-ups such as a t-shirt or towel, sun screen, and a one-piece swimsuit.

Chaperones/Directors will need to be prepared to sign a waiver before the Pathfinders can use the equipment. The one signing the waiver must be 18 years and older.

Statement on Use of Water Craft at Menominee Park

The City of Oshkosh is asking for a Waiver releasing the City of Oshkosh from any claims brought to it by Pathfinders using water craft such as canoes, kayaks, min pontoon, aqua bike, paddle board, etc. Please note the following.

Project Chosen

Project Chosen is a door-2-door ministry giving 3,000 special Guide magazines, which feature the Life of David and other exciting stories, with the Oshkosh community. Pathfinders should wear their field uniforms.  

Who May Attend:

Pathfinders of all ages can participate in this community outreach, accompanied by an adult staff member.

Transportation:

Buses leave daily at 9:00am for morning outreach and 1:00 pm for afternoon outreach from from the Compassion Ministry Bus stop. NOTE: These buses are different than the other Off-site activity buses.

Compassion/Community Service Ministry Projects

You, your friends, and your Pathfinder Club can become the eyes, heart, hands, and feet of Jesus during the Chosen International Pathfinder Camporee as we reach out to the city of Oshkosh with over 40 projects of Compassion. Through these projects you will be able to interact and bless people with real needs in the Oshkosh community. Pre-registration is required to participate in this Off-site activity.

Transportation:
Buses leave daily at 9:00am for morning projects and 1:00 pm for afternoon projects from the Compassion Ministry Bus stop. NOTE: These buses are different than the other Off-site activity buses.

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Museum

Spend as much time and as often as you want in this one-of-a-kind aviation museum. Located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, at the site of the world’s largest aviation event (EAA AirVenture) the Museum is one of the most extensive aviation attractions in the world, a year-round destination for the entire family. Enjoy the flight simulator or cool off and relax in the amphitheater while you enjoy special programming planned just for you.

Golf (Mini golf)

Enjoy the challenge of making par on some very challenging holes at this 18-hole miniature golf course, located beside The Outlet Shoppes. Settlers Mill Adventure Golf and Games' course features a realistic setting including waterfalls, streams and rivers.

Golf Tournament 

Need a reason to attend the International Pathfinder Camporee? We've got 18! Join this scramble-format golf tournament. Teams consist of 4 people.

Knigge Dairy Farm Visit

Tour a real working Wisconsin family dairy farm. This family farm has a robotic milking system which allows the cows to milk themselves 24 hours a day. Ride a hay wagon to the milking facility and then tour through the fields to see the growing crops. Get up close and personal with the calves and other animals raised on the farm. You will also be able to check out the farm machinery that plants and harvests the corn, soybeans, wheat and alfalfa crops grown on this 360 acre farm. Be sure to thank our hosts, Pete and Theo Knigge, for opening their farm up for tours (perhaps some spare Pathfinder pins you may have).

NOTE TO INTERNATIONAL GUESTS: Participating in this field trip may delay or prolong your departure from the U.S.A., to the point you may miss your flight. Most often you will be asked questions like, "have you visited a farm in the U.S.?"

Menominee Park Zoo

Visit Ruter, Caleb, and Selene - wolf residents of the Menominee Park Zoo. A true menagerie of various animals from all around the world awaits Chosen International Camporee Pathfinders. Enjoy the miniature train ride and various amusement rides in the vicinity of the zoo.

Pollock Community Water Park

Cool off and enjoy the slides and pools at this local Oshkosh water park. A nominal entrance fee is required.

Sailing 

Ever been sailing? Try it out this week at CIC! Depending on wind conditions sailing can be calm and relaxing, or wild and woolly. For the first time we are partnering with a professional sailing school that will provide 30 sail boats of various sizes. Certified sailors from Oshkosh will be providing brief instruction for fun on the lake. Come prepared to get wet and maybe even take a turn sailing yourself! Though we don’t have time to teach an honor in sailing, we guarantee you’ll have a fun time out on the waters of Lake Winnebago! There may also be some opportunity to experience "paddle boarding," an exciting new aquatic sport!

Ski Show

The Waterboard Warriors Water Ski Show Team provides free water ski shows for the greater Green Bay, Fox Valley and Lake Shore regions. 

This water ski show will include high-speed barefoot skiing, water skiing, jumping, pyramids and acting.

 

Thursday afternoon only: August 15 from 2-4 pm.

Soccer Tournament 

Participate in the Pathfinder World Cup, a 8-member team round-robin soccer tournament (requires pre-registration) or just play a friendly game of soccer for the fun of it. Players can take advantage of the indoor or outdoor fields. Soccer clinics will also be offered for those interested in improving their soccer skills. Soccer activities are located at the local YMCA.
